Photographed from the island of USS Ticonderoga (CVA-14), this image captures a snapshot of daily flight-deck life during the carrier's Vietnam War deployments. Ticonderoga, a WWII-era Essex-class carrier, launched some of the war's earliest strikes as part of Operation Rolling Thunder in 1964-65. Visible on deck are an A-7 Corsair II attack jet, an SH-3 Sea King helicopter, and a Grumman E-1B Tracer early-warning aircraft, together illustrating the diverse mix of strike, rescue, and surveillance aircraft that made up a carrier air wing during the war.
