The Kaman HH-43 Huskie, often called “Pedro” during its service, was a unique helicopter used by the U.S. Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps, primarily for short-range rescue operations. Its distinctive feature was its intermeshing rotor system, which eliminated the need for a tail rotor. The HH-43 served in various roles, including aircraft firefighting and combat search and rescue during the Vietnam War, where its maneuverability and hovering capability were highly valued.
